Doppleganger
So I was sitting at my desk this morning enjoying a bowl of cereal while surfing the internet before work. Through a series of links involving transsexual porn, bestiality, and of all things spelunking, I came across the following video.
I watched the trailer in awe. It looked good. I was surprised that the Medal of Honor series was going all modern day....wait a minute. This seemed oddly familar. Take a look:
First lets look at the AC-130 in Call of Duty 4
What appears to be an AC-130 in Medal of Honor
What about the chopper gunner perk in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2?
Medal of Honor Chopper Gunner
The Call of Duty NVGs with laser sights!
Now we have the Medal of Honor NVGs..complete with laser sights.
The scene in CoD:MW with Captain Price and his prisoner
Medal of Honor Prisoner?
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2's EOTECH sight
Well played EA! Well fucking played.

That is what an AC-130's view looks like, that is what an EOTECH sight looks like, That is what night vision looks like.
If something takes place in the "real world" then it will look similar, certainly more so when dealing with the same conflict. I am not saying that EA is not hopping on the band-wagon here, but anyone creating a modern combat game now would be seen in the same light.
James, I see what you are saying and you do have a good point. Perhaps I wasnt clear enough in my post, so let me elaborate.
Yes, an AC-130 has a distinct view, as does an EOTECH sight or Night Vision Goggles. I cannot dispute that. HOWEVER, how many games can you count that have added an AC-130 mission in them? I count 2 right now, both of them being in the Call of Duty series. Think about the first time you played that mission. It was new and exciting. You are again correct in that is what NVGs look like, well kinda, but of all of the games available with an NVG mission, how many of them include the laser sight effect?
Also consider the history between EA and Infinity Ward. IW was part of the original team that did Medal of Honor. Now EA is moving their WWII shooter to a modern day setting. Sound familiar?
Im not saying that EA is trying to copy Call of Duty, however it looks VERY similar. Yes all of the things mentioned are real life objects and settings, however there are too many similarities between the two games to brush it off as coincidence.
The new Medal of Honor looks amazing, but I hope EA truly is doing their own thing and not copying ideas.
